COUNTERFEIT MEMBERS THREATENED WITH LEGAL ACTION - 25/11/2008

As the economy continues to slow down, the Road Safety Markings Association is finding that some companies are misleading clients, by trading on the good name of the Association, in an attempt to get work.  Over the last three months RSMA have identified three companies that have claimed on their websites to be members of the Association when in fact they are not.

These counterfeit members have been threatened with legal action unless they remove these bogus claims and the Association will continue to monitor the companies concerned to ensure that this action is both undertaken and sustained.

RSMA Director George Lee says, “The good name of our members and our Association is at stake here and we will continue to take such action as is necessary to stop these counterfeit members.  It is clear from their actions that Association membership is something that is valued by clients and contractors alike and is seen by many as an assurance that a contractor is a quality contractor and can be trusted”

In addition to legal action the Association has also confirmed that it will name and shame those making bogus membership claims, on the Association website, unless they immediately withdraw the claims; the Association will also report the companies concerned to Trading Standards where they are based.
