NVQ ASSESSMENTS – Level 2

What is an NVQ?

National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ’s) are nationally recognised qualifications which demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed to do a job.

NVQ’s are work related, competence based qualifications enabling an operative to build and develop their skills to meet specific business requirements.

NVQ’s are made up of two elements.

• Underpinning Knowledge and skills through a skill match process identifying any knowledge gaps.
• Practical work-based on-site competence assessment – job related tasks that develop the practical skills needed to perform a job function effectively and safely.

Who are NVQ’s suitable for?

No previous qualifications are required to undertake an NVQ they are readily available to all but require the operative to have 2 years or more, practical experience in the road marking industry.

Duration

Achieving an NVQ is purely based upon the candidate’s ability; the time could be anything from 1 week to 1 year or more. The candidates ability and availability would determine the time frame.

Assessment Process

• Carried out in the work place/ on-site assessment
• Everyday work carried out will provide the necessary evidence
• Portfolio of evidence is built by the assessor and candidate
• No end test
• Certification is based purely on evidence and skills
• Internal verifier will verify the portfolio following its completion
